Along with the new HERO8 Black, GoPro has also today announced the GoPro Max. The successor to the GoPro fusion.
The GoPro Max features a similar design to the fusion, with two cameras, one on each side but adds an LCD touch screen where the previous model only featured the mono status screen.
This makes it easy for vloggers to use, and if you’re capturing in 360, you can always adjust your framing in post.
The Max also receives GoPro’s HyperSmooth video stabilisation capabilities and TimeWarp features.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like there is a jump in resolution, with the Max capable of shooting up to 5.6K30.
Built-in Mounting
A small but big change with the GoPro is the built-in mounting. You will no longer need to add any sort of accessory to use the GoPro with the wide range of 3-prong accessories.
Single microSD Slot
Another small change which will make a big difference to the GoPro Max workflow is that you only require a single microSD card where the fusion required two.
GoPro App
A big component of shooting in 360 is how fast and quickly you can go from shooting to delivering your content. Using the new GoPro app, you can easily set keyframes for the footage and export it for sharing.
Pricing & Availability
The GoPro Max retails for $499.99 and is available for pre-order for a shipping date of October 24.
