Key features
- All-metal construction
- Manfrotto compatible plate
- 7kg payload
- ‘Dynamic balancing’
The Komodo K7 is a compact, all-metal tripod head that’s designed for use with camera packages up to 7kg. Matt saw an early version at IBC last year, and now iFootage say it’s nearly ready to ship.
The head has a flat base so it can easily be used on sliders as well as tripod legs. When paired with iFootage’s own Gazelle legs and Fastbowl system the head quick releases with a twist and a pull.
The top plate is an extended Manfrotto 501-style drop-in quick release with a locking pin.
Dynamic balancing
There are the usual drag adjustments you would expect to find on a video head, and also something that iFootage are calling dynamic balancing. If you move the K7 into position with a camera attached, the head should stay where it is without needing to be locking in place.
Price and availability
The Komodo K7 should be available next month for £299 / $299 US / €299.
