At IBC 2019, Pure First was showing their 40-100mm T3.5 2x full frame anamorphic zoom lens.
Pure First which is a spin-off company from Spirit Labs claims that their lens is the first anamorphic zoom lens in the world that covers ultra-wide to medium telephoto.
The lens is a mid squeeze anamorphic and just like the ARRI 9.5-8mm Ultra Wide Zoom the image needs to be flipped in post.
The 40-100mm has a close focus of 53.6cm and it has a front diameter of 134mm. Pure First also claims that the lens will cover an image circle of up to 50mm.
I had a quick play with the lens of the show floor and it looked to maintain good edge to edge sharpness. It also had very minimal breathing.
The lens will cost €40,000 when it’s released.
