If you were thinking about jumping in on a set of Atlas Anamorphic primes, now would be a good time to do it as it’s going to become more expensive from October 1st, 2019.
This is a direct response to people asking for the lenses faster. The biggest complaints Atlas received were, “We want these lenses faster.” This cost increase will allow the company to scale production for more rapid deployment.
Unfortunately to speed up delivery times means hiring more people, adding more machinery, and upgrading processes to give people what they want. As a small company, this substantially increases production and operation costs.
In an email that went out on the 1st of August, it stated:
“Atlas Lens Co. is thankful for the opportunity we’ve had over the past three years to establish this new venture amongst our venerated peers. Our current focus is to shorten delivery times, improve efficiency, and continue to meet the expanding demand for our products.”
CEO, Dan Kanes
In somewhat good news, they are giving 60 days / two months notice to let people know about the change. Any orders that are placed until then will be at the current prices.
Deposit amounts will remain the same: $4999 for a single lens, $7995 for a set of three lenses, and $15,990 for a set of six lenses. Both the “A” Set (32/50/80mm) and “B” Set (40/65/100mm) are already shipping.
At NAB 2019, Atlas demoed a prototype of the 25mm T2 prime along with an LF Extender.
Do you own or use the Atlas anamorphic primes?
