When using a gimbal, you may not always be able to view the screen to monitor your framing. Using a small external monitor can help maintain your vision when doing high or low shots for example but you usually need to add another mounting accessory for the monitor. In the recent Atomos Shinobi launch video, you may have seen the monitor mounted onto the DJI Ronin-S with an interesting mount, it is actually PolarPro’s new Monitor Mount.
A small mounting bracket is secured to the Ronin-S, which lets the monitor mount rotate using the gold knob. Similarly, the gold knob on the monitor end which attaches with a 1/4″-20 screw allows for 360-degree rotation to suit your filming position when using the gimbal.
Also on the mount are three 1/4″-20 threads which can be used to mount other accessories like a microphone or small LED light. The threads have helicoil inserts so you won’t have any issue with the thread stripping out over time.
Built 100% from aluminium, the monitor mount looks to be a solid option for when you want to use an external monitor with the Ronin-S.
The PolarPro DJI Ronin-S Monitor Mount retails for $49.99 USD
