RØDE adds Multi-track recording to the RØDECaster Pro

The RØDECaster Pro has been out for just over a month and RØDE Microphones has announced a firmware 1.1.0 update in February 2019 will add Multi-track recording capabilities.

This was a highly requested feature that many felt was a critical element to making the purchase. It’s great to see RØDE listening to their customers, adding even more functionality to an already feature-packed product.

When would I want to use Multi-track?

While the RØDECaster Pro has a host of multistage dynamics audio processing, with built-in compressors, noise-gating and others using Aphex on board, many podcasts are edited and produced in post-production. Having the ability to record each audio source individually allows for greater flexibility in the edit suite.

How does the Multi-track recording work?

The multitrack feature will record 14 tracks:
• A stereo ‘live mix’ track, as featured on the RØDECaster Pro since its release
• A mono track for each of the 4 microphone inputs
• A stereo track each for the USB, 3.5mm TRRS, Bluetooth and sound pad channels

We are confirming with RØDE where the multi-track recording is available for both the internal SD card recording and via USB into a DAW.

How do you enable Multi-track recording

To activate multitrack recording, simply access the Advanced settings in the Hardware section of the RØDECaster Pro’s touchscreen interface. From there, a single switch engages ‘Multi-Channel’ mode for multitrack recording.

Is it the ultimate all-in-one?
