The CineLenses App is a database that features the technical specifications of more than 2,000 lenses, plus a list of 500 rental houses worldwide.
With so many lenses available, finding the right ones for your project can often be a time consuming process. The CineLenses App was created to help cinematographers make that process a little easier. Having all the technical specifications available to you right there on your smart phone or tablet is very useful for finding lenses based on the t stop, close focus, weight, etc.
The App is categorized according to Spheric or Anamorphic formats, and for different types of lenses: Primes, Zooms, Macros, Teles, etc. Another available option is to do a search based on the manufacturer.
Once you have selected the required lenses or series they will be automatically included in a list, which can be saved and consulted at any time. You can also share the list directly from the App, with a simple click. This is handy for sharing the lens selections with your production team so everyone knows exactly what lenses are required.
A nice included feature of the CineLenses App is that it also includes a list of more than 500 rental shops all over the world. If you enter the name of a country and city, the App will link you up to the shops you are looking for. You can even get in touch with the rental company directly from the App, and even check their location or website. This is a very handy tool as I know from personal experience that if you are in a country overseas and a piece of equipment breaks and you need to rent a replacement it can often be difficult to know where to look.
The CineLenses App is available in both the Apple Store and on Google Play for Android devices. In the Apple App Store it costs $8.99 USD.
