At the Photokina show Handevision talked to us about the development of a new line of E-mount cine lenses based on their full-frame Iberit lenses. These lenses will be much smaller than traditional cine lenses but still have geared focus and iris rings. The planned lenses will come in 24, 35, 50, 75 and 90mm and all have a constant T2.5 maximum aperture.
The Iberit lenses on which the cine lenses are based have received positive reviews of their sharpness and look. They follow in the footsteps of the popular Veydra cine primes, but offer a larger full frame imaging circle rather than M4/3 or Super35. Probably the closest competition the Handevisions would come from the Zeiss Loxia line of full frame stills/video lenses fitted with Zeiss’ own cine gears. The Handevision lineup will however be completely designed for cine.
Handevision hope to sell the lens at around the $2000 US price point. Release date isn’t certain but they are aiming for spring next year (2017).
