At the IBC Show in Amsterdam Libec were showing a new monopod that features a unique locking mechanism that allows you to take both your hands off without it falling over (with lighter cameras at least).
The HFMP monopod can carry payloads of up to 4kg which makes it suitable for DSLR, mirrorless, and small digital cinema cameras. The locking mechanism for hands free operation can be enabled or disabled by simply pressing down with your foot.
The fluid head on the monopod can be removed and used for other uses. It fits a 65mm tripod bowl and it also features a flat base that enables it to be used on sliders as well. It also has a very straight forward quick release camera plate that is compatible with standard Manfrotto plates.
The maximum height of the HFMP is 189cm but there is no indication of pricing as yet. It is expected to ship early next year.
Libec also had a new lightweight tripod on display called the TH-X, that is designed for smaller cameras.
