Newly announced by Netherlands-based Vibesta, the Rayzr7 is a range of LED fresnels that the company suggests are usable as direct replacements for tungsten fixtures.
The units feature LEDs up to 300W that focus through a 7″ fresnel lens, and outputs up to 10675 lx@3m. That sort of performance, says the company, is in the ballpark of traditional 1K fresnels, while still offering a TLCI rating of 98 for colour-accurate shooting.
The lamp will be available in four different models, 200W and 300W daylight versions and bi-colour varieties that the company describes as 100W+100W and 150W+150W – presumably related to the technology used to change the colour temperature of the fixtures.
DMX is built in to all models, and WiFi control is optional. It’s possible to power all versions via battery and they’re claimed to be flicker free at up to 15000fps.
The range starts at €939 for the 200W daylight fixture, rising to €1499 for the 300B bi-colour variant. Each model is also available as a kit, which includes a carry case and barn doors. The company is accepting orders now for delivery in September.
We haven’t had a look at them in the metal yet – hopefully we’ll be able to bring you some first impressions from the IBC trade show in September and possibly some more in-depth thoughts once Matt has had a look at them. Going up against the ubiquitous Arri fresnel is a brave move, but if the convenience of battery power can be combined with a good quality of light, there’s everything to play for. Watch this space.
