If you are looking for a lightweight and inexpensive way of attaching 4×4 glass filters to your stills lenses, then NiSi have just come out with a great solution. Distributed by Ikan in the US, the new NiSi filter holder is a simple design that uses adapter rings to mount to your lens. You buy the right sized ring for each lens you have with sizes ranging from a 49mm thread up to 85mm.
Most photographic filter holders can’t accept the thicker glass filters that are common in video. The NiSi holder can accommodate two of these thicker filters. It should be the perfect solution for anyone who wants to use proper filters without the bulk and cost of a mattebox. One obvious application would be on drones and lightweight brushless gimbals.
It can also take the larger 4×5.65 filter size slotted in vertically. This should be fine for more filters, but does limit the placement of horizontally graduated ones. The filter holder can also be rotated.
The best part about the NiSi holder is the price. The holder will cost just $40, and each adapter ring is $20.
