Lockcircle’s Dante Cecchin sat down with Clinton Harn at this year’s Cinegear to give him an overview of the company’s cages and support systems and a look at a few new products.
First up is a new cage – in addition to the Birdcage for the GH4 and A7, the company now offers its Metal Jacket as protection for the Leica SL. Not a camera you want to get bashed around too much on location! It’s available in black, silver or, erm titanium brown finishes.
Also new is the company’s Micromega expandable baseplate system, which can accommodate cameras ranging in size from GoPros to the Alexa Mini. Lockcircle want you to be able to start small add extra components as you change cameras. There are up to 20 combinations of plates and risers to ensure maximum compatibility between cameras. This is listed as ‘coming soon’ on the company’s website – if we’re able to get hold of some samples we’ll be sure to take a look at them.
And compatible with the Micromega system is the company’s new Rodrunner extendable 15mm rods (you can see them if you scroll down on this page). They’re made from titanium and feature capped threads at both ends that you can extend with extra sections as and when you need them. These look like they could be very handy for use on jibs or gimbals where you really need to keep weight down as much as possible. They’re going to be available next month for $179 US which looks like a pretty good deal for the amount of flexibility they offer.
