Dan Chung speaks to Topher from Teradek about their new wireless VR live streaming and monitoring set up, known as Sphere. The system uses a rig of four GoPro devices, which plug into the Sphere box, that’s no bigger than an Apple TV. This then connects to a wireless router for viewing, adjusting and streaming from Apple and iOS devices. You can navigate your VR feed, either in a panoramic view showing all four 1080p devices stitched together, in perspective mode, which allows you to move your iPad to see around the feed, or using a VR headset. This set-up is being used for YouTube’s new 360 videos.
The Sphere is available from next month, priced $3,000 US. To demonstrate this technology, you can view the Teradek booth in VR now at http://teradek.com/pages/nab-vr or via the NAB VR app.
