At the BIRTV show in Beijing, Tilta were showing a new radio controlled car with a stabilised brushless gimbal mounted on top. The gimbal is connected to the car via a vibration reduction platform which helps achieve more stable shots. It can carry a RED Epic or ARRI Alexa Mini sized camera equipped with short cine lens and follow focus.
The car is a collaboration between Tilta and a firm called Vaxis Lighting, with parts made by both companies. They recently published a couple of sample videos that certainly look pretty impressive.
From the outside the system looks a lot like the TERO from Freely systems. Details were scarce on the technical specification of the Tilta/Vaxis Lighting car. No pricing or availability information was available at time of publishing.
It looks like Tilta will be the latest Chinese manufacturer to get seriously into the brushless gimbal market. With such a crowded field it will be interesting to see who can actually innovate and bring new ideas to the table.
