As Ryan Coogler’s new film Sinners was shot on film, Kodak has posted up a video where he explains the creative choices behind aspect ratios and how they affect the viewing experience.
Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw shot Sinners, and at least to my knowledge, she is the first woman to shoot a theatrical feature film in Ultra Panavision 65mm and IMAX. Autumn is known for her work on The Last Showgirl, Palo Alto, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
While a lot of readers will be aware of the differences between Ultra Panavision and IMAX, some may not, and this video demonstrates the differences in a very clear and easy-to-understand way.
