Nanlite has announced its new Rapid 90 Parabolic Softbox (SB-RP90) and Rapid 120 Parabolic Softbox (SB-RP120).
The new Nanlite Rapid series can be set up in seconds and folds flat when collapsed. The Rapid 90 (SB-RP90) and Rapid 120 (SB-RP120) parabolic softboxes feature an integrated design with a rapid-latch speed ring and strong structural rigidity.

With a single pull-and-press movement, it opens and locks the dome’s ribs and fabric firmly into place. Then all you need to do is to attach the front diffusion fabric using hook and loop fasteners and connect the softbox to the lamp head using the Bowens mount.
We have seen quite a few of these fast-set-up softboxes before, but I haven’t personally seen one with a single lever.
Collapsing a Rapid series parabolic softbox is also quick: just hold the handle and pull the trigger and it will fold in just a few seconds. When packed, the Rapid 90 and Rapid 120 parabolic softboxes can be folded flat to save space.

As the Rapid 90 and Rapid 120 parabolic softboxes are equipped with a Bowens mount, they are compatible with Nanlite Forza, FC, and FS series fixtures, and also with other Bowens mount light fixtures in the market.
According to Nanlite, the Rapid 90 and Rapid 120 softboxes maintain the color accuracy of the fixture they are attached to and they have an even spread.
A standard diffuser and a lite diffuser are included. The diffusers are made of high-density material and the diffusion fabric is made from durable and wear-resistant nylon. The interior of each softbox features reflective fabric that intensifies the light, effectively reducing light loss and minimizing color shift. An eggcrate is included that can further control the direction and spread of the light.
The softbox evenly distributes pressure when subjected to external forces thanks to the support of 16 high-carbon steel ribs.
Each Rapid 90 and Rapid 120 parabolic softbox includes a carrying bag.
