The FR-AV2’s allows 32-bit float recording up to 192kHz. When recording at lower bit depths like 24-bit and 16-bit, loud sound sources can cause digital clipping that cannot be fixed during editing. By using dual analog-to-digital converter technology, recordings are captured with greater dynamic range and clarity. You do need to keep in mind that it is better to record 32-bit at lower levels as you can’t recover audio from microphones that that have exceeded their maximum levels.

  • 16-bit: approximately 96dB of dynamic range
  • 24-bit: approximately 144dB of dynamic range
  • 32-bit float: approximately 1680dB of dynamic range
