Arri announced new SkyPanel LED soft lights at NAB. Very bright and beautiful light at almost any color temperature you may want. They say the lights “have the ability to adjust the color temperature anywhere between 2800K and 10,000K with excellent color rendition over the entire range.” The lights also have full plus and minus green correction via a knob.
They say the new lights are “brightest soft lights on the market” with the larger light being brighter than a 2K tungsten soft light. They can be used outdoors with a battery pack.
There are four models in two different sizes. The larger S60C variable color model will ship in September with a list price of $6200 USD, with the smaller S30C coming a little later around $4500. Each size will also be available with remote phosphor lights without the variable color at lower prices but higher light output. The cheapest of the lot, the S30 remote phosphor version, will be $3125.
These are robust lights with aluminum bodies and simple controls. The AC power supplies are huge, though, and connect by cable to the heads. They can be powered by battery bricks, though at reduced power on the larger model.
