Leica has announced a new Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200mm f/2.8 ASPH lens and 2x Teleconverter for L-Mount.

The Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200mm f/2.8 ASPH is claimed to deliver excellent performance for telephoto applications.
The lens design consists of 20 elements in 15 groups with three aspherical elements within the lens that are said to reduce various optical aberrations. Sophisticated multi-layer and aqua-dura coatings on the glass surfaces coupled with the detachable lens hood help prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens.
There are 3.5 stops of optical image stabilization and it has an 82mm front filter diameter. The minimum focusing distance is 25.59″ / 0.65 m
The lens weighs 3.4 lb / 1540 g.
The Leica Extender L 2.0x was designed for the Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200 f/2.8 ASPH. and Vario-Elmar-SL100-400mm f/5-6.3 zoom lenses, effectively doubling their zoom range. The teleconverter features eight elements in four groups
