Redrockmicro have announced version 3.0 of their extremely popular Micro Remote follow focus system. The system allows both wired and wireless control of a focus motor attached to a cine lens, or geared stills lens.
According to Redrockmicro the new firmware ‘delivers innovative features and enhanced performance that both professionals and enthusiasts will love’. Over two years in development, 3.0 is said to deliver top performance and reliability. Redrock claim that Professional ACs and operators in particular will appreciate the 4x increase in resolution for spot-on repeatable witness marks, and a silky smooth professional feel. They say the ‘improved responsiveness and clean feel of the slowest focus pulls feels at home when compared to units costing 5x more’. We’ll be happy to test that claim at the upcoming NAB show in Las Vegas.
This from Redrockmicro:
Enthusiasts will appreciate Artistry, a new feature included in 3.0 that helps anyone achieve smoother, more professional focus pulls. If you’re new to focusing, or have had limited experience, it’s a great way to up your game right now. Artistry intelligently evens out focus movements while still leaving you in charge. Artistry also adds gentle feathering to start and end movements that help give your technique a professional edge. The microRemote uniquely enables you to set the amount of Artistry that’s right for you: dial in more for beginners who need a little help, and less for professionals who want bare-metal performance and responsiveness. However you like it, the microRemote with Artistry™ has you covered.
The 3.0 firmware will be on display at NAB booth C9539 next week in Las Vegas.
