Teradek has announced its upcoming CTRL.5, which looks to be a fully featured and customizable FIZ controller with an operating system that takes a lot of its cues from from SmallHD’s PageOS software.
The CTRL.5 supports an RF range of up to 5,000 feet line of sight and it utilizes the same display as SmallHD 5” Monitors.
CTRL.5 runs CTRL.OS, which provides user access to real-time data from multiple on-set devices, all built into a 2000nit panel.
There are 11 programmable quick-action user buttons, plus a touchscreen UI for personal and flexible setup.
The CTRL.OS camera control builds on SmallHD and Teradek integrations with RED, ARRI, Sony and more soon. What is very interesting is that the CTRL.5 features the ability to bring up a live video feed, although I believe that there isn’t a built-in TX in the unit.
You can build out lens and filter kits per prep then sync to a cloud library, all inside CTRL.OS.
The CTRL.5 is also compatible with all previous Teradek RT devices, including the Latitude MDR MK3.1, Motor MK3.1, and Handset 3.1.
The CTRL.5 can be connected to a SmallHD monitor using the 5-pin USB port on the controller.
It is compatible with the CineRT, CineTape, TOF.1, and Moon Smart Focus. Auto focus is supported using TOF.1 or 3rd-party rangefinders.
I don”t have any current information about pricing or availability.
