Lexar has announced its new CFexpress 4.0 Type B DIAMOND Series and CFexpress Type A GOLD Series memory cards. Both series are able to takes advantage PCIe Gen 4 bus to deliver fast eat and write speeds.
The CFexpress 4.0 Type B DIAMOND Series has acclaimed write speeds of up to 3300 MB/s and read speeds of up to 3600 MB/s. Lexar claims that the cards have a sustained write speed of 3200 MB/s and that they support the VPG400 video class standard. While this sounds great on paper, the highest sustained write speed required for any camera that is currently on the market that utilizes CFexpress Type B cards is around 800 MB/s.
The CFexpress 4.0 Type A GOLD Series features read speeds of up to 1800 MB/s and write speeds of up to 1650 MB/s. I am not currently aware of any other CFexpress 4.0 Type A cards that are available.
There is currently no indication of pricing for either series and also no information about when they are likely to ship.
