Ever since the Sony FS7 started shipping a few weeks ago there have been many complaints from users that the aperture dial responds very slowly when used with Sony’s own native FE and E mount lenses, as well as Canon EF lenses with the newest Metabones Speedbooster Ultra and Smart adapter IV. We have detailed the issues extensively here.

Sony this week stated on their user forum that they will be fixing the slow aperture response time with certain lenses on the FS7. Juan Martinez, Senior Product Manager for Sony, said “The root of the problem is that E Mount lenses can change iris aperture in hundredths of a stop. Thus the slow sensitivity. We will definitely increase iris response by firmware update. Our plan is to bring it to FS700 level and later add acceleration”.

This is good news for owners of the FS7. Sony have yet to indicate a time frame for when this firmware will be released but lets hope that it wont be too long.
