Nanlite has announced two new fixtures, the FC-300B and FC-500B. They are LED Bi-color spotlights with a CCT range of 2700K-6500K, 12 built-in effects, and they feature a new look and design.
The FC-300B and FC-500B have power draws of 350W and 520W respectively. The FC-300B when set at 5600K and used with its reflector at a distance of 1m /3.3′ is claimed to have an output of 37,340 lux. The FC-500B when set at 5600K and used with its reflector at a distance of 1m /3.3′ is claimed to have an output of 65,640 lux.
The FC-300B weighs 2.6kg / 5.73 lb, while FC-500B weighs 3.16kg / 6.97 lb.

The FC-300B and FC-500B sport a blue decorative frame and a wing-shaped top housing that according to Nanlite, is supposed to resemble a soaring eagle that symbolizes that in the world of creation, the sky is the only limit for the FC series. This is certainly an interesting take from the marketing department.

Prolycht Orion 300 FS
The design, at least in my opinion, isn’t a massive departure from other Nanite spotlights and the FC-300B and FC-500B look a little similar to a Prolycht Orion 300 FS. Both the FC-300B and FC-500B have two output modes built. The Maximum Output Mode ensures that the output has the maximum brightness for the chosen color temperature, while the Constant Output Mode is said to guarantee consistent brightness across the entire CCT range. With the FC-500B, you can change the intensity in 0.1% decrements.
Nanlite claims that both lights have CRI/TLCI rating averages of 96 and 98 respectively.
An adjustable fan control system has been incorporated into both lights and there are four fan modes you can choose from: SMART, FULL SPEED, LOW SPEED, and OFF. In SMART mode, Nanlite claims that the average noise level is only 23/27dBA.
Both lights feature a simple UI that consists of a 2.0-inch screen with two knobs and two buttons. The power supplies come with a built-in safety strap and quick-release plate, for easy rigging and installation on light stands by using the optional quick-release clamp (separate purchase).
The FC-300B and FC-500B have built-in 2.4G and Bluetooth modules that support Nanlink APP control. You can also use a wired DMX/RDM connection if you need to use the lights for more complex and accurate group control.
The lights feature a standard Bowens mount and are fully compatible with Nanlite’s Bowens mount accessories.
The lights are also equipped with an umbrella hole for mounting umbrellas.
Both the FC-300B and FC-500B have 12 built-in special effects and the parameters of each effect are fully tunable through on-board control, and more customization can be obtained by using the Nanlink APP.
There is a USB port on both lights to support firmware updates via a USB stick. I personally can’t recall off the top of my head Nanlite releasing any firmware updates for its lights over the last few years.
