Exactly one month ago Tamron announced that they were developing a 35-150mm F2-2.8 Di III VXD lens for Nikon Z mount. Well, that lens is now available to order and it will start shipping on the 21st of September for $1,999 USD. The lens is being touted as a fast and versatile zoom that could be used for a variety of applications.
This is the first zoom lens for Nikon Z mount to have a maximum aperture of F2. 35-150mm is a pretty usable range and for a lot of video shooters, this will be an interesting lens to consider.
If the 35-150mm F2-2.8 Di III VXD sounds familiar it should. Tamron already makes this lens in Sony E mount. Interestingly enough, the E-mount version of the lens is $100 USD cheaper.

The lens incorporates the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism, which is claimed to provide very high-speed and high-precision autofocus for a fast-aperture lens. It also incorporates a new design with the aim of enhancing operability and ergonomics.
The Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD is an all-in-one wide to telephoto zoom. it looks to offer a good mix of versatility and speed. The lens has an 82mm front filter diameter and a minimum focusing distance of 13″ / 33 cm at 35mm.
The optical construction of the lens consists of 21 Elements in 15 Groups and it has 9 aperture blades.
The lens weighs 2.6 lb / 1165 g.
