Capture One is now available for iPhone. While it has been available for iPad for some time, it is good to see it finally being brought to the iPhone. What you do need to clearly know is that the iPhone version is a dummed-down version of Capture One and it doesn’t have all the same features and functionality as the iPad version.

Above you can watch the livestream from the announcement.

Capture One for iPhone allows you to connect your camera so that you can shoot right into your iPhone. You do this either wirelessly (via Wi-Fi) or through a wired (USB) connection.

Essentially the pitch is that you can leave your computer at home and connect your camera to your iPhone instead. You can then shoot, see, and review your photos in real-time on your iPhone screen.

You can transfer your images via the cloud to Capture One Pro to switch over and finish your work with all your ratings, color tags, and edits intact.

The app also gives you the ability to control your camera directly from your iPhone (wired or wirelessly). You can also adjust your settings, fire the shutter, etc.

Capture One supports over 500 cameras from major brands like Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm, Leica, and Sigma.

The iPhone app is claimed to bring the speed, image quality, colors, and collaboration tools of Capture One.

According to Capture One, you can take advantage of Capture One’s true-to-life, hand-calibrated colors on a mobile screen. You can also use the RAW conversion and color processing power of Capture One Pro anywhere (although you could easily do this on an iPad or laptop as well).

Are there any differences in functionality between the iPad and iPhone?

Yes, there are a few. Check the list below to see the differences between the two devices. According to Capture One they are actively working on making all the same tools work on both iPhone and iPad so that you get the same experience across both platforms.
