The Sodyum Mercury Curve 2 Lantern and ½ Cylinder attachments were made specifically for Litemat LED fixtures by gaffer Ken Sody. They look to be nice diffusion options if you own Litemat fixtures. Now, the Mercury Curve 2 has been around since last year, but I hadn’t seen it before so I thought our readers may find it interesting.
The biggest issue when using flexible or solidly backed thin panel lights is that the diffusion that comes with them is often either hard up against the LEDS, or you need to use some type of softbox that never seems to fit properly or keeps falling off. The whole concept behind the Sodyum Mercury Curve 2 Lantern and ½ Cylinder attachments was to come up with a better solution for diffusing the Litemat 2L.
They are also currently working on solutions for other Litemat versions.
Mercury is part of Sodyum’s R&D branch which was set up with the sole purpose of improving, and bringing to market, lighting & grip accessories. All of their products are made in Belgium.
Mercury Curve 2 €275
The Mercury Curve 2 is a newly designed covered wagon kit that is made exclusively for Litegear’s Litemat 2L.
The five curved rods provide a structure to skin the textiles onto the Litemat. Everything is kept in place with Velcro’s hook-and-loop system.
The Magic Cloth diffusion and Silver Poly come directly from The Rag Place in California and the final product is sewn together in Belgium.
