- SL2/SL2-S Autofocus System
- 4-Stop Optical Image Stabilization

This new lens does share some similarities such as focal range, and a similar available to the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm f/4-6.3 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens that is designed for Micro Four Thirds sensor cameras. However, the direct competitor to this lens would be the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens for Leica L. It shares the exact same focal range and variable f-stop as the Leica.
The Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400mm f/5-6.3 Lens is claimed to provide excellent sharpness across all f-stops and focus distances, all while maintaining high clarity throughout the zoom range with additional help from a built-in optical image stabilization. It features a relatively compact, lightweight form factor and it utilizes Leica’s SL2 and SL2-S tracking abilities to produce accurate, high-speed autofocus.
Weather sealing and an AquaDura coating on the external glass elements and there is a detachable Arca-type-compatible tripod base.
