RED has a new KOMODO Monochrome digital cinema camera. The KOMODO Monochrome cameras are made to order and one will set you back $7,500 USD, which is about $1,500 USD more than a regular KOMODO.
Because the KOMODO Monochrome doesn’t have color filters you can obtain around twice the sensitivity of a standard KOMODO.
According to RED, the KOMODO Monochrome cameras take around 1-2 weeks to ship after an order is placed.
We have seen both RED and ARRI make monochrome cameras in the past. A monochrome digital cinema camera is fairly niche, but they do suit the needs of select productions.
