The Lilliput T5U 5″ Livestreaming On-Camera Touchscreen Monitor features a 5″ IPS 1920 x 1080 display and its main selling point is that it is able to livestream through a computer without the need for other devices.
When you connect the monitor to a computer, your livestreaming software will recognize it as a connected device, just like it would with a webcam. You can then stream to any platform, such as Skype, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Periscope, Zoom, etc.
Key features
- 400 cd/m² Brightness
- 17 Default 3D-LUT Modes, 6 User LUTs
- 1000:1 Contrast Ratio
- UHD 4K HDMI 2.0 Input
- Audio Meter, Timecode & Histogram
- Focus Peaking, False Color
- Dual-Purpose NP-F & LP-E6 Battery Plate
- Includes Shoe Mount & Sun Hood
The monitor features a 5″ IPS 441ppi touchscreen, however, it is only 400 nits. This doesn’t make the monitor very suitable for outdoor use even though it does come with an included sunhood. The T5U 5″ supports 98% DCI-P3 and 131% Rec.709. 17 default 3D-LUTs are available and you can also load up to six user LUTs.
The T5U 5″ has the usual array of video assist monitoring tools as well as multiple false color modes, timecode display, and audio meters.
There is only a single HDMI 2.0 input that supports video signals up to UHD 60p. The USB port is what you use to send a live feed up to 1080p to a computer, as well as for loading LUTs and firmware updates. It would have been nice to see a USB-C port instead of a USB-A, as a lot of modern-day computers no longer feature regular USB, especially laptops.
There are three 1/4-20″ mounting points that you can use and the monitor weighs in at just 190g / 6.7oz.
As far as powering is concerned it comes with a dual-purpose battery plate that can accept either a Canon LP-E6 battery or a Sony NP-F battery. There is also a 7-24V DC input and an 8V DC output that you could use with an adapter cable to power a small mirrorless hybrid.
