The Miro Cube 2 is the follow-up to the original Micro Cube that ROSCO announced back in 2014. These are small-sized, lower power draw fixtures that can be used for a variety of applications.
The Micro Cube 2 is available in four different versions:
- 4C – RGBW
- 4CA – RGBA
- WNC – Tunable White
- UV365 – Blacklight
4C – RGBW
The Miro Cube 2 4C is an RGBW color-mixing fixture. The light’s white emitter can also be used to create tints and pastel tones. The 4C uses 4 x 12W Osram Ostar multi-chip LEDS and it draws 50W.
It has a claimed output of 1200 Lumens (no lens).
It has physical dimensions of 4″ x 4″ x 4.25″ (100mm x 100mm x 108mm) without the yoke and it weighs in at 2.1 lbs (0.95 kg).
4CA – RGBA
The Miro Cube 2 4CA is an RGBA fixture that features red, green, blue, and phosphor-converted amber chips. These amber chips are claimed to help the fixture produce rich warm tones. The 4CA uses 4 x 12W Osram Ostar multi-chip LEDS and it draws 50W.
It has a claimed output of 900 Lumens (no lens).
It has physical dimensions of 4″ x 4″ x 4.25″ (100mm x 100mm x 108mm) without the yoke and it weighs in at 2.1 lbs (0.95 kg).
WNC – Tunable White
The Miro Cube 2 WNC is a tunable white fixture that features a mix of warm, neutral, and cool LEDs. It has a Kelvin color temperature range of 2700K to 6000K and a claimed CRI of 92+.
The fixture uses 12 high-quality Cree XML 4W emitters and it is claimed to have an output of 3400 lumens.
It has the same physical dimensions and weight as the 4C and 4CA.
UV365 – Blacklight
The Miro Cube 2 UV365 is a high-output blacklight that has had its LEDs tuned to a narrow 365nm. This ultraviolet bandwidth is handy for creating fluorescent scenery, make-up and set materials luminesce and glow.
Beam Control
The Miro Cube 2 fixtures have a variety of options when it comes to beam spread. The WNC, 4C, and 4CA models all ship with an OPTI-SCULPT Lens Kit that contains three Rosco OPTI-SCULPT Lenses: 20°, 30°, and the reversible 40°R60°. All of the other OPTI-SCULPT lenses are also available as individual accessories for the Miro Cube 2. Other beam control accessories available for the Miro Cube 2 include Barn Doors, Top Hats, and an Egg Crate Louver.
Ludicrous Mode
All of the Micro Cube 2 fixtures feature a Ludicrous Mode. This mode is claimed to intelligently redistribute the fixture’s power to maximize its output. By utilizing ROSCO’s patented Miro Cube heat management system the Micro Cube 2 fixtures when used in the Ludicrous Mode are claimed to be able to produce incredibly high output.
Two Dimming Options
The Miro Cube 2 also features two dimming modes, Master Dim Mode and NO PWM Mode. Master Dim Mode enables users to set their hue or color temperature, and then dim the fixture via a single control channel. Miro Cube 2 fixtures also feature 4kHz and 16kHz PWM frequencies.
The NO PWM Mode (Pulse Width Modulation) lets the user dim the fixtures so you get guaranteed flicker-free dimming. In this mode, the fixture has reduced brightness steps when it’s dimmed up and down, but it won’t flicker even at extremely high frame rates.
Pre-Tuned
Miro Cube 2 fixtures can ship from the factory pre-programmed to a specified hue or color temperature. This removes the need to program the fixtures on-site.
Multiple Control Options
Miro Cube 2 fixtures can be controlled via RDM compatible DMX and 0-10VDC, and a mobile device using ROSCO’s myMIX app which interfaces with the new myMIX Connect accessory. Using myMIX and myMIX Connect, users can select a color temperature, choose from up to 54 True Rosco Color gel matches, or create their own custom color. These settings can then be saved into a library that can then be shared.
