Tamron has announced the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 for Sony E-mount.
The 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 is the successor to the popular and highly acclaimed 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD. It retains the compact size of its predecessor, but it features a new optical design.

Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism, is claimed to deliver higher autofocus speed with greater precision. The MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of the lens is just 18cm / 7.1″ at 28mm.
Tamron redesigned the optical design of the 28-75mm F2.8 G2 from scratch. The optical construction of the lens consists of 17 elements in 15 groups. This includes two LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements.
The lens has a front filter diameter of 67mm and it weighs 540g / 19oz.
