Blackmagic has reduced the price of the URSA Mini 12K to $5,995 USD, this is a massive price reduction of $4,000 USD. The URSA Mini Pro 12K was $9,995 USD.
The URSA Mini Pro 12K was $9,995 USD. As of right now, B&H still has the camera listed at $9,995 USD.
This new price for the URSA Mini Pro 12K makes it the same price as the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2. What will happen to that camera and its price remains to be seen. Blackmagic hasn’t reduced the price or made any further comments about the 4.6K G2.
According to Blackmagic, this new price reduction has been made possible by efficiencies in manufacturing combined with an improved supply of 12K sensors.
“Since we released Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K last year, we have been working hard to increase the supply of sensors and make improvements in our manufacturing processes to help reduce costs,” said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. “This new lower price, combined with the incredible 3x faster speed of DaVinci Resolve makes high resolution 4K and 8K workflows more accessible. It’s totally mind blowing that you can edit high resolution 8K in DaVinci Resolve, on an Apple M1 notebook!”

$4,000 USD does seem like a rather large price reduction and if you just recently purchased or bought a URSA Mini Pro 12K in the last year or so you are probably not going to be too happy about this price drop. Whether the price drop has anything to do with how many URSA Mini Pro 12K’s Blackmagic has been able to sell is unknown.
At $5,9995 USD the URSA Mini Pro 12K is probably a very good buy. Below is what a few other cameras on the market cost:
- Canon EOS C70 Cinema Camera (RF Lens Mount) $5,499 USD
- Canon EOS C300 Mark III Digital Cinema Camera Body (EF Lens Mount) $10,999 USD
- Sony FX6 Full-Frame Cinema Camera (Body Only) $5,998 USD
- Sony PXW-FX9 XDCAM 6K Full-Frame Camera System (Body Only) $10,998 USD
- RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF) $5,995 USD
- ZCAM E2-F8 Full-Frame 8K Cinema Camera (EF Mount) $5,995 USD
- Kinefinity MAVO EDGE $11,999 USD
Arguably, at least on paper, the URSA Mini Pro 12K offers a lot higher specifications than any of these other cameras I just listed. However, specifications don’t necessarily make a good camera. What you clearly need to be aware of is that the URSA Mini Pro 12K can only internally record BRAW, there are no ProRes options available.
