The LS 600x Pro is an exciting release for Aputure and an evolution of the high output LS 600d Pro daylight version. We knew it was coming, didn’t know when. I’m a big fan of bi-color fixtures, and now the LS 600x Pro gives you both high output and the flexibility of a 2700K to 6500K Variable CCT. I reviewed the LS 600d Pro and found the light to be powerful with an impressive build. The LS 600x Pro offers the same but with the advantage of bi-color.
Since the output is one huge feature with the 600 series, the LS 600x Pro being bi-color does affect the overall output due to the need to mix the colors to get the desired Kelvin temperature. This is nothing new with bi-color lights and is a trade-off we have to expect. The question is, what do you need more? Flexibility or raw output?

LS 600x Pro Pricing and Availability
The new bi-color LS 600x Pro doesn’t have a set release date for purchasing. However, Aputure is hopeful to have it available for purchase this year. As you probably know, there are several shortages in the electronics component world, and manufacturing is a the mercy of supply. But the good news is Aputure does have three Light Storm fixtures that have a price reduction and are in stock.
The LS 600x Pro will retail for $1990 (US) and $2690 (CAN).
The Light Dome 150 retails for $269 (US) and $359 (CAN).

With bright lights, modifiers like big softboxes work extremely well, and these days you can pick them up for a lot less than years past. Aputure has been making Light Dome models for some time now, and I like their new fastpitch design that kames pitching them fast and much easier. With a conventional four-post softbox, it is much easier to pitch; however, these multi-post round modifiers can be tedious.
The new Bowens Mount Light Dome 150 is a 150cm (59in) Bowens Mount Quick- Setup Circular Softbox. Its large surface will give you some very soft large source lighting.
It’s 32-sided with that quick-setup build I mentioned.
The Light Dome 150 includes two diffusion strengths. A 1.5 and 2.5 stop plus a 45° grid and carry bag.

Light Storm Price Reductions
The pandemic has knocked manufacturing around a lot, making many products more expensive. Everything in our lives seems to have gotten a lot more expensive. However, Aputure decided to make a price reduction on several products. Not all but some, and that would be a good thing if you had your eye on one of these products.

The LS 600x Pro is a welcoming new high-powered light from Aputure. It’s good to see the rugged and bright-line expanding. I like the versatility of bi-color, especially if you are mixing different brands on set. This makes it much easier to match them all up. I wish the output were the same as the LS 600d Pro, but it’s no surprise that it’s lower due to mixing daylight and tungsten diodes for variable kelvin output.
Another good thing with the LS 600 fixtures is they can be powered by 14.4V, 26V, and 28.8V batteries and also powered at half output when the batteries are not rated for full power.
The control box is capable of accepting 48V (15A) DC power via 3-pin XLR, allowing it to be powered with external battery power stations or block batteries.
