Pelican has a new range of Rugged Camera Lens Covers that are made out of high density and elastic silicone.
Lens covers are nothing new, but they do offer some level of extra protection for your optics. It may not stop your lens from breaking if you drop it, but it will certainly help in minimizing any damage that may occur.
Covers also make sense if you are placing lots of lenses in a bag or a case and they are not separated by dividers or padding. Having covers on lenses stops them from getting scratched if they are rubbing up against each other.
The covers will fit on lenses that have a 67mm to 120mm circumference. According to Pelican, they feature a weather-sealing fit and the silicone material being used is water, dust, and dirt resistant.
