Teradek has a new Bolt 4K RX Monitor Module, which is essentially a way of adding a 4K Bolt RX unit to a SmallHD Cine 7 or 702 Touch monitor.
This solution allows you the turn an existing SmallHD Cine 7 or 702 Touch monitor into a wireless monitor that is capable of receiving signals from any Bolt 4K or Bolt 4k LT TX unit. Now, you need to remember that bother the SmallHD Cine 7 and the 702 Touch are only FHD panels.
How does the module attach to a monitor?
The Bolt 4K RX Monitor Module comes with either a V-Mount or Anton Bauer battery plate and you simply attach it directly to the back of a SmallHD Cine 7 or 702 Touch via a single 1/4 20″ screw.
Power is transferred via a 3 pin connector that is on the module.
Teradek states that the Bolt 4K RX Monitor Module can receive any resolution and frame rate from any Bolt 4K or 4K LT transmitter.
It will only output up to 4Kp30 to a SmallHD Cine7 or 702 Touch monitors (via HDMI 2.0). The Cine7 and 702 Touch are only 1080 panels, but by still feeding the monitor this higher resolution, you can do things like 1:1 pixel zoom to the 4K resolution, which is a good solution if you’re using the monitor for focus pulling and want to punch in. In addition, the RX Monitor Module will retain the HDR 10-bit 422 and with the updates coming to Page OS4 software, it will introduce Color Pipe, which helps make it easy to configure and maintain a calibrated HDR workflow.
The module can receive line-of-sight signals from a distance of up to 750ft (228m.
The RX Module gets its signal reception via 13x 40MHz frequencies. Teradek claims that with upgraded hardware it has fewer image break-ups than previous Bolt generations, faster re-connection times, automatic signal quality switching, and a more robust frequency hopping algorithm.
By using the Bolt App for Android and Apple iOS you can remotely pair any TX/RX devices, manually designate specific 5GHz channels, and monitor interference with the 5GHz Spectrum Analyzer and Wireless Health analysis tools.
Price & Availability
The Teradek Bolt 4K RX Monitor Module retails for $1,490 USD and it is now available to order. You do need to note that you will need to purchase either a Bolt 4K or Bolt 4K LT TX unit in addition to the RX Monitor Module.
