Another day, another new camera crane. Last week it was from Kessler, this time it’s from Cinevate. The Canadian company’s new Axis jib is a clever design that places the mechanical parts inside a single tube. It has a 4ft arm and is designed to take loads up to 22.7 kg. It works with 100mm bowl tripods and takes a 100mm half ball tripod head, or 75mm half ball heads via an adaptor. The Axis package is listed at $2299 CAD and includes the Jib, 100mm bowl, tie-down handle, weight handle, soft carrying case and the 2 lb trim weight. It’s available to order now and new orders will begin shipping on January 14th.

Here is what Cinevate have to say:
The unique design of this jib contains all of the mechanical components inside of a single tube, giving it a sleek look while being incredibly easy to set up. The Axis features a 4 foot reach, a 7 foot vertical arc and supports up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg). You can also achieve repeatable movements when indexing the magnetic dry-erase marker rings located on each side of the jib.
The Axis Jib comes with a fixed 100mm half ball and will drop into 100mm bowl tripods. At the end of the jib is a 100mm bowl mount which will accept any 100mm video tripod head. 75mm heads can be mounted as well using the 75mm-to-100mm bowl adapter. The bowl can be inverted to achieve low angle shots.
The counterweight end features a 1″ diameter handle to accept common size weights (not included). Provided is the 2.0 lb (0.9 kg) collared trim weight which securely slides along the jib for fine-tuning the balance. The recommended camera-to-counterweight ratio is 2:1.
You can find out more about the Axis jib over on the Cinevate website.
