The new ARRI PCA range of mechanical accessories includes an adjustable Cage Top Handle CTH-2, NATO Rail Clamp NRC-6, and ergonomic Wooden Handgrip WHG-3. Further accessories combine to provide a compact and lightweight cage system for the just-launched Sony Venice Extension System Mini. Built to meet the highest standards of on-set performance, ARRI accessories help facilitate dynamic camerawork and efficient workflows.
For the first time in ARRI support sets for third-party cameras, the new base plate is designed as a BUD (Balance Utility Dovetail), offering compatibility with all existing ALEXA 35 base plates. This stable and industry-standard system enables rapid, tool-less changeovers between multiple different bridge plates, accessory plates, and dedicated stabilizer plates such as the SAM plates for ARRI and third-party camera stabilizers. A second BUD base plate can be added to a side bracket for rapid switching to vertical 9:16 shooting with the correct rod-to-lens height, while an integrated cable clamp prevents unnecessary strain on the camera’s tethering cable.
A new top plate and back plate provide numerous mounting points for accessories. The top plate includes an opening to allow unhindered access to the Sony camera’s filter slot. This works in tandem with the new CTH-2 top handle, which rotates through 360° so camera assistants can quickly swing it aside for a filter change and return it to the desired position without affecting the balance of harnesses such as the Easyrig. The top handle is also adjustable along both the X-axis (forward/backward) and Y-axis (left/right), offering extensive mounting options and compatibility with ARRI HEX handle extensions.
The side brackets are shaped as NATO rails, allowing quick, tool-less attachment of ARRI NATO rail clamps such as the new NRC-6, with its quick-release rosette for handgrips. The NRC-6 combines perfectly with ARRI’s new WHG-3 wooden handgrips, which are made of sustainably sourced walnut and can be mounted without tools for ergonomic handheld shooting. The NATO side brackets can also be used to attach the top handle when shooting in vertical 9:16.
ARRI’s PCA support set for the Sony Venice Extension System Mini includes multiple Pin-Lock 3/8”-16 and 1/4”-20 mounting points, as well as M4 pairs for brackets such as the ubiquitous RMB-3 and RMB-7 rod mounting brackets. All screws follow the ARRI Multi-Hex standard and support multiple hex keys, including 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, or 5/32”.
