DZOFilm teases new Vespid 2 Cine Primes with Cooke/i technology

DZO

DZOFilm has teased a new upcoming Vespid 2 Cine Primes series that incorporates Cooke/i technology.

If you are not familiar with Cooke’s /i technology, it enables film and digital cameras to automatically record key lens and camera data for each frame shot, which can then be provided to post-production teams digitally. This helps streamline both production and post, to save valuable time and cost while eliminating the need for guesswork.

At least to my knowledge, this is the first time one of the Chinese lens manufacturers has incorporated Cooke/i technology into their lenses.

The original Vespid primes were announced way back in October 2020. The Vespid series is compact and lightweight, with a 46.5mm image circle so that they can be used on large-format cameras.

The Vespid series consists of 9 focal lengths. They include a 12mm, 16mm, 18mm, 21mm, 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, 90mm (macro), 100mm, and 125mm.

It will be interesting to see what focal lengths and T-stops the Vespid 2 series are. I would imagine that because of the Cooke/i technology integration, the lenses will be more expensive than the original Vespid series.

While the lenses won’t be available till the northern hemisphere summer, DZOFilm will be showing prototypes of them at NAB 2025, Booth: N2074 (Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall)
