Panavision Hollywood closing down

PANA

In a sign of the times, Panavision’s Hollywood location is apparently closing down. The last day of operation is said to be April 11th. Their Woodland Hills location remains open, and the inventory from the Hollywood location is allegedly already being moved there.

Apparently, some staff have been laid off and others will be moved to Woodland Hills.

Just last year, Panavision celebrated its 70th anniversary. In case you weren’t aware, Panavision operates exclusively as a rental facility and the company owns its entire inventory, unlike most of its competitors.

The Panavision group has facilities in more than a dozen countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, and South Africa. They also still have multiple locations in the US. All of these remain unaffected.

Our industry has certainly been going through a rough patch, and things are not looking overly positive. Lots of people I know around the world have been struggling for work, and some have left the industry they have been in their whole lives.

I think there are lots of mitigating factors that are to blame, but it is arguably hard to put that blame on one single thing.

How has your 2025 been so far? Are you getting enough work or are you struggling? Please let us know in the comments section below.
