Sekonic C-4000

SEK

The Sekonic C-4000 is a compact size spectro-color illuminance meter that can be used in conjunction with SEKONIC LD smartphone/tablet app via Bluetooth.

The whole concept is that you can take a measurement from the main unit, and then the memory data is imported and displayed on the app. This allows lighting designers to position the C-4000 in hard to reach places and then take a reading remotely using a smartphone or tablet. The measurement method can be selected from single-shot or continuous measurement for real-time monitoring.

The measurement screen on the C-4000 shows basic functions such as illuminance, color temperature, ⊿uv, color rendering index (CRI, TM-30), and xy chromaticity coordinates, however, if you want more detailed information, it needs to be viewed on the app. Up to 99 measurement values can be saved.

Key features

  • Works with Smartphones/Tablets
  • Supporting the workflow of light measurement
  • Compact spectro-color illuminance meter

In addition to viewing graphs of measurement data stored in the C-4000, reports can also be created (for a fee) in the app. Drawings such as light distribution plans can be captured with a camera or selected from a file, titled, and saved. Measured values can then be plotted on the imported drawing (up to 999). Memos and measurement times can also be attached to each data reading.

GPS location information of the measurement location can be linked for sharing, and the reports and measurement data can also be shared via smartphone/tablet communication functions.

The C-4000 looks to be a good tool fo the evaluation of illuminance, color temperature, and color rendering index for indoor studio lighting, store lighting, etc. It would also be suitable for lighting management in museums, office environments, etc.

The C-4000 is equipped with a USB Type-C connector on the left side of the main unit. By connecting the C-4000 to a PC via USB and using utility software, the firmware of the main unit can be updated.

Sekonic will also have a C-4000 dedicated holder (under development), so that the C-4000 can be mounted on a tripod, monopod, or other stand to enable measurement of a wide range of surfaces, including ceiling surfaces, elevated walls, and floor surfaces. It is equipped with general-purpose 1/4-inch screw holes.

Price & Availability

The C-4000 will be available from the 21st of March and it will cost 217,800 yen.
