The MID49 Tentacle Sync E Clamp is a new product that attaches to an ARRI 1/4-20 with locating pins adjacent using a captive thumbscrew. The clamp can be configured in several ways depending on the desired position, and the locating pins can be removed if needed.
Why not just use Velcro?
Sure you could just use some velcro, but it really depends on what you are doing as to how secure you need to attach something. It can also make a difference depending on the camera you are utilizing. If you have a smaller-sized digital cinema camera or a mirrorless hybrid finding space and securing a Tentacle Sync via velcro may not be the best solution.
Size & Weight
The MID49 solution was designed to be small and discreet and to not substantially alter the footprint of a Tentacle Sync E. It weighs just 1.4oz / 40g, and has physical dimensions of (WxLxH): 2.3 x 0.9 x 0.6 in / 60.2 x 22.3 x 14 mm.
Build Quality

There are removable ARRI locating pins, which increases its versatility.
Real World Usability
The MID49 Tentacle Sync E Clamp works as advertised, and if you need a more secure solution than using some velcro then it is certainly worth looking at. It is easy to take the Tentacle Sync E out by just loosening the thumbscrew, so you don’t need to remove the clamp from your camera.
I like that the physical size of the clamp is reasonably small, and it doesn’t massively increase the footprint of a Tentacle Sync E, especially when used on larger-sized cameras.
Note this is not compatible with the larger Track E and original Sync models.
