Custom-designed for mirrorless cameras, the DJI RS 4 Mini Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer is a lightweight single-handed gimbal stabilizer. This single-grip gimbal uses the DJI RS stabilization algorithm for enhanced performance. It can capture smooth video for up to 13 hours thanks to the built-in 3100mAh battery and is supported by the detachable extended grip/tripod.

While the gimbal supports mirrorless camera rigs up to 4.4 lb, you can convert the RS 4 Mini into a smartphone gimbal with the optional Phone Holder.

The phone holder offers more features and range of movement than a standard smartphone holder. The holder can also be used to monitor your camera image via the Ronin smartphone app.

DJI RS 4 Mini adds auto-axis locks previously found on DJI’s flagship gimbals, which allow the three axis locks to automatically unlock upon power-on and lock upon power-off or sleep. This noticeably speeds up the filming, transitioning, and storage processes. The storage structure has also been upgraded, with the axis arms folding flatter to save space. Combined with automated axis locks, the gimbal can be stored quickly with the press of a button, making it easy to fit into a bag for convenient carrying.

Multiple Control Options

  • Use the OLED touchscreen to calibrate and set parameters for the RS 4 Mini.
  • Control gimbal movement, camera shutter, focus, and recording using the gimbal buttons.
  • Access wireless control for select cameras using Bluetooth and the Ronin app.
  • Use gesture control when the optional RS Intelligent Tracking Module is installed.

The RS 4 Mini can switch between a variety of shooting modes:

  • Horizontal mode and a vertical view for social media without the need for additional accessories.
  • Upright mode: Standard mode for walking or running shots.
  • Underslung mode: The gimbal flips so your camera hangs for low-angle and tracking shots.
  • Flashlight mode: The camera can be held forward like a flashlight to shoot in confined spaces.
  • Briefcase mode: This makes it easier for low-angle shots using the adjustable briefcase handle.

Quick Release Plates

The dual-layer quick release plates make it easy to mount a camera onto the RS 4 Mini and eliminate the need to rebalance the gimbal after swapping out a new battery or memory card.

Built-In Battery

  • The RS 4 Mini battery grip contains a built-in 3100mAh battery that provides a runtime of up to 13 hours (fixed mode), generous enough for shooting all day.
  • It charges in less than two hours using the included USB-C cable.

Intelligent Functions

Create impressive effects using intelligent motion functions, including Panorama, Time-Lapse, and Tracking.

Accessories

  • The RS Intelligent Tracking Module mounts onto a pogo pin mount on the gimbal to enable tracking and gesture control.
  • An integrated NATO mount allows you to attach accessories like the RS Briefcase Handle.
  • The detachable tripod doubles as an extended grip.

Wireless Recording and Zoom

After Bluetooth pairing, you can control the start/stop of recording of your camera or phone directly via the gimbal’s record button, without the hassle of a cable release. The new zoom control function allows you to control Power Zoom for PZ lenses and Clear Image Zoom simply by pushing the joystick, making one-handed operation easy. A camera only needs to be paired once, after which it can reconnect seamlessly and automatically.

DJI RS Intelligent Tracking Module

You can track your subjects when using an RS 4 series handheld gimbal stabilizer with the DJI RS Intelligent Tracking Module ($69 USD). The compact module snaps onto your RS 4 series gimbal using a magnetic mount and securely locks into place. It is designed to work with the gimbal’s ActiveTrack technology for one-tap intelligent tracking and framing of human subjects from up to 32.8′ away.

The tracking module can be controlled using the gimbal or by using hand gestures. You can start/stop tracking or enable different modes, such as orbit mode, POV/selfie mode, or backward tracking shots. It is claimed to be able to easily distinguish your subject when in a scene with multiple people, so you can follow a subject through complex scenarios.
