After getting numerous requests to take their existing X-Plate ratchet mechanism and stick it in a quick-release plate, Irwin Blake has done exactly that, and the new product is called the Clicker.
The quick-release mechanism is identical to that of the X-Plate with the ratchet system adding extra peace of mind and security. It also has the same hole spacing for pairing with the Spinner.

They have also added another layer of functionality by allowing the docking of a dovetail plate laterally across the Clicker. Moveable cleats, fixed down with captive M4 screws, cater to a wide range of dovetail widths and laser marked gradations on the side make it easy to fix the cleats down in the same place on either side. The idea for this feature was born on set when you needed to dock a camera with a steadicam plate, but with no suitable place to dock it quickly.

Irwin Blake has also added a mix of 1/4″ and 3/8″ mounting holes down the middle for all your mounting needs, including 2 perpendiculars for mounting 90º. A channel on the top side also allows mounting from above.
Below is a list of all the different dovetail plates they have tested it with:
- Arri Dovetail
- O’Connor Euro Plate
- GPI PRO Steadicam Plate
- Tiffin Steadicam Plate
- Betz Wave Plate
- Ronin 2
- Ignite Digi Gimbal Mate
- SAM Zero
- SAM-1
- SAM-2
- SAM-6
- SAM-7
- SAM-8
- *SAM-9
*Irwin Blake discovered that the Arri SAM-9 isn’t thick enough to automatically engage their locking mechanism. It will dock safely but the user has to manually depress the locking button.
