GL Optics Olympus OM Glass Cine Rehousing

OM

GL Optics is excited to announce the rehousing of the legendary Olympus OM glass, a set of full-frame lenses introduced in 1972. This isn’t the first time the OM series has been adapted for cinema-in the 1980s, Moviecam rehoused these lenses for their film cameras.

Olympus OM lenses, which were primarily designed by Yoshihisa Maitani, were known for their optical sharpness, low chromatic aberration, and beautifully bold flares. Their multi-coated optics deliver higher contrast than many vintage lenses, however, they still provide a textured bokeh that gives them a distinct look.

The OM lenses were ahead of their time, offering very close-focus capabilities across the set. The 50mm and 90mm, both macro lenses, perform well for both standard and macro applications.

They are compact and lightweight and are claimed to strike a near-perfect balance between vintage character and modern optical performance.

With this set, GL Optics has utilized a cam-based focus system in place of their normal helicoid mechanism. GL Optics can rehouse any one of the 21 different OM lenses that are available. You can choose to have the mount be either Pl, LPL, Sony E, or Canon EF.

Price & Availability

GL Optics ONLY rehouses Olympus OM donor lenses so you would need to own or source your own lenses.
