SEE U– direct eye contact device

The SEE-U allows for direct eye contact of an interviewee into the lens and therefore to the audience while speaking directly to an interviewer.

SEE U can cover wide-angle lenses down to 18-20mm, for S35 at 16:9 (the actual width is dependent on the size of the lens). Of course, it can be longer in any range. The caveat is that you do get a one-stop loss of light from using the mirror.

According to its creator Sebastian Cramer, SEE-U is much more personal and easier to handle, than existing systems. It also can be used for shooting two different focal lengths from one single viewpoint, or for an interaction of actors in close-ups. Additionally, you can also place a monitor or an iPad in the open look-through area and use it as a teleprompter.

The SEE-U is based on an interview attachment Sebastian did for a 3D film.

SEE U will be shown at the BSC Expo London on Friday/Saturday 14th and 15th of February 2025.

It will be built and sold by P+S Technik and Sebastian will be at their booth #411.

I currently don’t have any information about pricing or availability.
