At CES 2025, LG announced the latest UltraFine (model 32U990A) monitor and stated it is the world’s first 6K high-resolution monitor to come with Thunderbolt 5 and its versatile connectivity.
The new 6K monitor features a Nano IPS Black panel, and LG states that it can deliver exceptional color accuracy and high contrast with a wide color gamut covering 99.5% of Adobe RGB and 98% of DCI-P3. With calibration software support, the monitor is designed for media professionals and has a slim, geometric design.
The full details about the display are also slim, as there’s no info on the refresh rate or when it will be available to purchase. The pricing has not been announced. However, I imagine it will be well over $2000 USD, as it’s similar to the Apple Studio Display 27-inch 5K Retina display that retails for $1600. LG hasn’t stated the new 6K beast is a 32″ display, so I’m assuming it is based on the “32U990A” model number.
More Thunderbolt 5 devices have been released recently, with the first Thunderbolt 5 cables and docks hitting the market last year. Apple’s new MacBook Pro models and Mac Mini support Thunderbolt 5, making the new UltraFine (model 32U990A) monitor enticing.
