There is a new camera cage company called XLCS Designs (pronounced ‘excelcius’ that has been created by Will von Tagen. It is a US-based company still in the start-up phase, however, they were one of the first companies Blackmagic Design invited to design a cage system for the new Pyxis 6K.
The XLCS Pyxis Cage is the only 1-piece design cage on the market, and as far as I am aware, the only one designed to offer screen protection solutions, and allow users to still mount OEM accessories proprietary to the Pyxis.
The cage systems are expected to start shipping o the 1st of November.
Pyxis 6K Cage: Full Metal Jacket for Blackmagic (L-Mount Only) $299.99 USD
This version of the XLCS Designs cage for the Blackmagic PYXIS 6K is dubbed the Full Metal Jacket, and is specially designed for the L-Mount Only version of the PYXIS. The addition of the front “face plate” serves to further protect your camera, while also giving you more options for locking various lens adapters to the cage itself.
Additionally, our XLCS USB-C cable lock can be used on the face of the cage if you opt to use a standard, non-locking cable with your PYXIS. The Blackmagic proprietary EVF/LCD locking cable is also compatible with this cage.
Beyond that–the Full Metal Jacket offers you the ability to truly build your PYXIS any way you wish; while still protecting the camera body to a very high degree. Think of this cage as an insurance policy as well as a means to rig your camera. Precision machined from 1 solid piece of 6061 Grade Aluminum–the cage is both more robust and unique in build when compared to typical Top/Bottom/Side Plate “cage” systems from other manufacturers.
Incredibly, you can even mount 15mm rods to the front and back of the cage–giving you the standard 60mm spacing needed for standard 15mm rod accessories. This means you can add battery plates and follow focuses directly to the cage without the need for an additional 15mm rail mount.
This feature is especially important if you wish to power your PYXIS with external power.

At only 670g (23.6 oz) the Full Metal Jacket cage for Blackmagic PYXIS 6K is also lighter than many other systems–while still offering significantly more protection and mounting options.

Hollow Point cage for Blackmagic PYXIS 6K (EF | PL | L Mount $299.99 USD
This version of their cage for the Blackmagic PYXIS 6K is dubbed the Hollow Point, and can accommodate all models of the PYXIS (EF/PL/L Mount). It features most of the same features as the Full Metal Jacket version–however the faceplate is removed to allow for the PL or EF mount of the PYXIS to pass through.
You are still able to use the “Universal Adapter Mount” with this cage if you are adapting a lens to the L-Mount if you decide to load an L-Mount PYXIS into this cage.
