Hi-5 & Hi-5 SX SUP 3.0 SUP 3.0
This latest SUP represents a significant update to the user experience for ARRI’s flagship three-axis hand unit.
Here is a short list of the highlights:
Custom Smart Rings: Completely customize the look and feel of the knob on any Hi-5 or Hi-5 SX. Set any distance between marks for Focus or Iris rings.
New Home Screen: Reworked interface for better readability for key information and easier access to common settings.
Multi Segment: A customizable section of the home screen for camera information, timers, additional axis displays, and more.
Single Axis Mode: ARRI has added all features introduced with the Hi-5 SX to the Hi-5, including the clean and intuitive Single Axis Mode.
Revised Camera Control Screen: The camera control page is easier to read and to navigate with the Force Pad.
Diopter Compensation (BETA): The effects of front diopters and Impression V Filters on lens scales can now be compensated for.
Nudge: A new, silent way to communicate between members of the camera department. A “Nudge” can, for example, be sent by a camera operator with a ZMU-4 to a 1st AC with a Hi-5 in order to signal a cue for a camera movement. The Hi-5 user will receive either a short vibration or on-screen notification according to their preference.
Other New Features: Tailslate during recording, deactivating REC control, license deactivation.
Some new features such as Diopter Compensation (BETA) and Nudge are new and novel ideas that ARRI are still developing, that have pre-existing configuration limitations. ARRI would love to hear your feedback and suggestions about these features, which you can send to [email protected]
RIA-1, ZMU-4 & cforce mini RF updates
Three new SUPs are available to support Hi-5 SUP 3.0 and offer several new features. It’s now possible to deactivate the REC button on a ZMU-4, and to activate a Nudge. All three devices can now support Cinefade Limits, and can now forward metadata and camera control to the ALEXA LF and ALEXA 65 with just the CAM to LCS cable.
Optional Hi-5 Button Upgrade
In addition to these software updates, ARRI is also pleased to announce an upgrade path for Hi-5 users looking to switch to the new style of buttons introduced with the Hi-5 SX. The process for replacing the buttons requires a full disassembly of the unit, so the upgrade must take place at an authorized ARRI Service Centre. The upgrade additionally includes a maintenance procedure for the unit, including knob service, cleaning and calibration of all control inputs, ensuring that your Hi-5 is in perfect working condition for many years ahead.
The Hi-5 Upgrade is offered at a special price until stock lasts. Please contact your nearest ARRI Service location to book a time slot for the upgrade to minimize downtime.
