The AF drive is equipped with a linear motor focus mechanism, VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive). The VXD enables speedy and stress-free focusing from the minimum focusing distance to infinity. In addition, the linear motor is quiet and vibration-free during focusing, making it ideal for shooting still and moving images in environments where quietness is required.

The camera is equipped with a focus limiter switch that can limit the AF focus range, enabling faster focusing by switching the focus limiter switch during AF shooting. It also helps shorten the time required for the camera to refocus when the subject is out of focus.

By registering the distance between two points to be in focus in advance, smooth focus movement is possible.
